Nicholas Hill Restoration
Conservation and Expertise
Services
A little on-site TLC goes a long way!
1Conserving and restoring a piece of furniture to its former glory, and regular maintenance, preserves its value and historical importance.
2Small adjustments and minor repairs ensure that each piece works smoothly and correctly, and so avoid costly workshop bills down the line.
3Tired and dull furniture brings no joy; conservation and maintenance ensure your treasured pieces are constantly present in their most glorious state, raising your enjoyment and everyone’s appreciation of them on a daily basis.
4Furniture design of the 17th and 18th centuries used high-quality, hard tropical woods such as Cuban mahogany, satinwood, calamander and rosewood from India. Many of these precious woods are now rare and duly protected; all the more reason to give them the attention they deserve.
"I would like to recommend Nicholas Hill for his restoration and conservation skills with antique furniture. Firstly, Nick devised a room-by-room plan, secondly, he has done a wonderful job in terms of rejuvenating and refreshing furniture which enjoys a lot of life and living, and thirdly he has been an absolute pleasure to have here in the house whilst he has been working away. Top marks all around!"

"Nicholas Hill came and restored a badly damaged but modern wine table. He has done an excellent job (it looks like new), so much so, that I am going to have him back to restore some items of antique furniture."
J Drayton, London 16th June 2020
"Nicholas Hill has restored some of our beloved furniture to its former glory. We are delighted with the results. Thank you so much."
C Fiennes, Dorset 12th June 2020
"A severe overnight flood caused by a water leak inflicted substantial damage to several highly valued and loved pieces of family antique furniture. At very short notice Nicholas Hill came onsite and spent many hours of exceptionally skilled hard labour repairing and restoring all of the damaged furniture to the extent that they looked in better condition than before the flood. I recommend Nick's work and sing his praises to the highest."
Antony Johnson, Dorset, 17th December 2022
"I answered Nicholas Hill’s post, as I needed an antique table restoring and polishing. He could not have done a better job - in situ as well. He is quick, tidy, charming and efficient and I could not recommend his services more highly."
Caroline Clegg, London 1st June 2022
"Nicholas Hill came to our house yesterday and restored several items of our antique furniture to their former glory in situ. Nicholas was charming and easy to have around and I could not recommend him more highly."

3I offer an individually tailored service. I am prepared to come to you personally, with the least possible disruption to yourselves; revive, feed your furniture, remove watermarks, and surface scratches, bringing your furniture conservatively back to its former glory (i.e., legs of chairs, chest of drawers and dining room tables especially).
4Fix loose veneers, and dried and loose joints, bringing the furniture back to a good colour and Fine Wax Finish.
5Should your furniture need more extensive work, I will take it to the workshop.
